RockWall Tutorial

Have ya ever wanted to paint a neato wall? You'll need burnt sienna, raw sienna, ultramarine, and I like some quinacridone gold. I like to start with a rough sketch but as long as you have a rough thoumbnail sketch you'll be alright.

So begin with a background wash of burnt sienna, raw sienna, and ultramarine. (experiment eith differnent amounts of each to she what mixture you like. I start with a "capful" of each and carefully mix miniscule amounts on a plate. you don't really want this wash to be even a little bit of patchyness gives the rocks more texture.

Next, lift the paint off various spots to make lighter rocks. You can use a 1 inch flat bristol brush for this, tissue paper, an old cloth, old your imagination limits you again experiment with what you like.

Using mixed of the colors listed above start defining your rocks.

Now to define your rocks mix burnt sienna and ultramarine, Also you can wait for your wall to dry and use so pens.

Final step, Now your wall is nearly complete. Add touches of quinacridone goldif you desire and viola. A lovely rock wall.
